Sanrio had announced plans on 27th September to begin selling solid gold Hello Kitty playing cards, and the company has made available through it’s online shop since October 3. You won’t believe this, each of the 54 cards (with jokers included) measuring 58*89mm, is made from 0.73 gram of 99.99% pure gold. Mitsubishi Materials Corporation developed and incorporated the precision rolling technology, where the Gold is pressed to thickness of 7 Microns. The cards are then sealed in protective laminate printed with colorful designs and a pretty Hello Kitty in a royal dress on the front side.

On the reverse side, Hello Kitty is printed on the background featuring Union Jack and Apples. The Hello Kitty is 3 apples heavy and 5 apples tall and also a reference is made to the fact that Hello Kitty has had its birth in London. It is priced at $4,900. Last time it was the Hello Kitty cell phone, this time it’s a set of cards made of pure gold, I’m wondering what’s going to follow next!
