Drums skins more valuable that the drummer!

sgt_pepper_drum.jpg Remember the drum skin used on the cover of The Beatle's Sergeant Pepper album? Yes, the one with "Lonely Hearts" inscribed on it. It has turned out to be something that was worth storing. It fetched £541,250 ($1.07 million) at Christie's auction in London. Lennon's sunglasses fetched £39,650 ($78,400), some Hendrix recordings at the Woburn Music Festival in July 1968 weresold for £48,050 ($95,000), his Marshal amp went for £25,000 ($49,400) and a guitar that was once owned my a member of The Who sold for £32,450 ($64,200).

Another significant auction was that of John Lennon's lyrics for Give Peace a Chance that sold for £421,250 ($833,000). The story behind the lyrics is quite interesting too since they were handed down some sweaty palms through the years till the finally reached the buyer himself.
